editing commissions

i am a trained story doctor/developmental/copyeditor with 7yrs experience in academic, professional, and fiction editing. i have worked for the university of chicago and publisher's weekly.in addition to all my own works, i have edited the Royals Having A Nice Time series, James Feeman's THE CALL (Vulture Bones, 2019) and both of Ladz's books (Queer Indie Awards finalist ICE UPON A PIER and THE FEALTY OF MONSTERS).

RATES

FICTION

  • copyediting is billed hourly at €25/hr

  • story doctoring and developmental editing has a flat rate for reading (€50 per 100k), which includes 500 words of editorial critique, including specific suggestions

  • if more discussion is wanted, a €30/hr rate applies for further developmental editing. if the draft in discussion is one i've already read, you do not have to pay for me to read it a second time. the hourly charge covers 1 on 1 discussion and extensive in-text commentary.

  • rush charge of 20% applies to anything with a turnaround time of under a week

ACADEMIC

  • copyediting is billed hourly at €25/hr. bibliography copyediting is an additional flat €10 per page of bibliography.

  • for argument or paper cohesion, i can read and comment on any subject. costs are €5/double spaced page and includes in-line comments and a 300 word final write-up with specific critique and suggestions for improvement.

  • if more discussion is wanted, a €30/hr rate applies for further argument editing. if the draft in discussion is one i've already read, you do not have to pay for me to read it a second time. the hourly charge covers 1 on 1 discussion and extensive in-text commentary.

  • rush charge of 20% applies to anything with a turnaround time of under a week
